Tailgate Window Dash Switch for the 1978-1985 Wagons is FINALLY HERE!!!
This switch replaces your factory (and probably non-operational) tailgate dash switch. It uses a more modern switch but will still accept your factory knob!
These switches are pre-wired to plug directly into your factory plug. It doesn't get much easier than that!
To install, simply unscrew the switch bracket, unplug the electrical connector and then drill out the two rivets connecting the existing switch to the factory bracket. You may need to drill out the two holes slightly, so the new 6-32 screws will go through the holes to mount the adapter plate (a 9/64" drill bit works well on this). A ziptie is included to put over the two electrical connectors. The factory knob will then attach to the new switch. There is only one way to mount the adapter bracket and have it centered in the hole. If it isn't centered, then flip it 180 degrees. And keep the "Top" label on the switch to the top. Otherwise your up function will be down and vice versa.
