Product Details
Proportioning valves are used in disc brake systems. The valve provides the correct pressure for front disc and rear drums. Four wheel disc valves are also available. These are all a direct replacement for the stock valve.
Tech Suggestion: When bleeding the brakes, if there is enough of a loss of pressure, the valve may trigger the metering rod to close off one of the circuits. If you do not have fluid coming out either the front circuit or the rear circuit, this is what happened. If this occurs, you need to reset the metering rod. You can do this by removing the switch at the top, and inside the bore you'll see the metering rod and a little bit of the groove portion. You use a small pick to center that groove. Alternatively, you can remove the front plug or rear section, remove the little spring, then move the rod back into place.
To eliminate the risk of this happening, before and during the bleeding process, we recommend using the bleeder plug tool. This gets installed where the electrical switch normally resides, and it has a protrusion that keeps the metering rod centered during the bleeding process. Once the brakes are fully bled, you remove the tool and reinstall the switch.
