Mile Marker 4x2 Part Time Conversion kits for Quadratrac-equipped Jeeps.
This kit converts your all-wheel drive Quadratrac to a part-time four wheel drive transfer case. First we'll explain how the Quadratrac operates in stock condition, before this kit is added:
The Quadratrac Transfer Case (BW1305 / BW1339) is an All-Wheel-Drive case, meaning the front and rear output shafts are always under power. It uses clutch cones inside the case to allow slip between the front and rear output shafts, which allows you to drive an All-Wheel-Drive case on dry pavement, go around turns, etc. When you turn the knob in the glovebox, that pulls a shift diaphragm on the case and it locks the front and rear output shafts together, with no slip. This is called E-Drive, and if you do this on dry pavement and go around a sharp turn, the vehicle will jump / shake / bounce and chirp the tires. This is essentially traditional 4wd with a Quadratrac. Driving in E-Drive on dry surfaces will eventually ruin the case and break components. Also, being an All-Wheel-Drive case, that means components wear down faster and you have reduced fuel mileage as compared to a traditional 2wd / 4wd style case.
Now we'll explain what the Mile Marker Part-Time Conversion Kit does:
When you install this conversion kit, it changes the Quadratrac from an All-Wheel-Drive case to a traditional 2wd / 4wd case. It accomplishes this by removing the clutch cones internal to the case as well as some of the sprockets and flanges, and replaces them with new components. Once installed, in normal operation the case will be in 2wd. This means the front driveshaft & axle will no longer be under power during normal driving, and you may see a slight increase in fuel mileage. You will also have less wear and tear on the front shaft, front axle and related parts. Then, when you turn the switch in the glovebox, the shift diaphragm on the case will slide a fork over and engage traditional 4wd.
Unless you are in an area with lots of snow, and constanly drive in that snow, this kit is a great upgrade. The only reason to keep a Quadratrac as an All-Wheel-Drive case is that it is superior in the snow.

Back when the Morse Chain stock ran out, we had to buy chains that were made in China and they didn't hold up. We now have a USA manufacturer to make these chains for us and they are much nicer than their China-made counterpart!
**NOTE: Overdrive Chains are ONLY for cases that already have an Overdrive Conversion installed. The Mile Marker Part Time Conversion kit is not an overdrive unit, and a low-range unit is also not overdrive. And installing an overdrive chain into a standard chain case will not work, and does not give you overdrive. If you have any questions, contact us before ordering.
