barely fits
this is marketed as a direct bolt in for a grand wagoneer. that is not even close to true. it did go in, but literally one half inch in any direction and it would not have fit. the defrost ducts hit the wiper transmission linkage, and there really is nothing to be done about that if you want to mount the unit high enough up that the whole thing isn't visible below the dash. the defroster ducts also never really shut off completely, so on humid days with just the vents blasting i get condensation along the bottom of my windshield. i also had to do a ton of fabrication to adapt the defrost ducts up to the original setup, while the item description says they will mount right up. the vents themselves have a taper to the back of them, so the ducts are a terrible fit over them, so that half of the cold air blows around the back of the vent and not out the desired spot through the louvers. i got the rectangular vents, maybe the round ones are a better fit. also the vents are just supposed to screw into the bottom of the dash. if you do this, you will be looking at all the floppy ductwork below the dash forever, which looks awful. i ended up making a panel from a piece of aluminum angle that bolted to the dash and sunk the vents into it so it could act as a valence panel for the ducts. bottom line, for this kind of money, i'd have expected it to actually be meant for my grand wagoneer rather than just a universal, one-size-fits-none type of kit.

Mr
Just finished install into my 1982 J 20 RHD which I have owned since new and now in final stage of a total rebuild. never had air con fitted so this is the final touch. Although it took some time, instructions very easy to follow. Only modification necessary was to compressor mounting plate as now powered with 4.2 lt 1HDT Toyota diesel, Purchased Toyota bracket and idler pulley, it all fitted up nicely.
